Anthony McSpadden
Classical AnnouncerAnthony McSpadden joined WHRO as host of Afternoon Delights in 2009, after developing Maestro, the world's first satellite-radio delivered classical channel for WorldSpace beginning in late 2000. In addition to hosting midday and weekend mornings at WHRO, Anthony oversees programming at KMFA in Austin, where he is Director of Content.
"I like programming music on a daily basis, and I'm glad that I am able to be with WHRO's listeners in Hampton Roads and beyond", Anthony says."The station is lucky to have one of the best audiences in public media, one that really cares about supporting such a great cultural resource."
A Texas native, Anthony began playing the violin at age 5, and eventually decided it would be better to play CDs, complementing his love of sharing great music; his broadcasting career began at WRR in Dallas where he served as drive-time announcer and music director for 10 years. He is also a voracious reader, and frequently haunts museums wherever his travels take him.
