But district leadership shared little new information.

During a long and often tense school board meeting, parents and teachers complained of failures by the school's administration. Some said they’ve lost faith in the district’s leadership.

The administration plans to install metal detectors across the district and distribute transparent backpacks.

But, the district still wouldn’t give a firm timeline for when Richneck Elementary would resume classes. The school has been closed since the shooting of an elementary teacher on January 6.

Administrators wouldn’t even give a ballpark range, despite pressure from a school board member.

Karen Lynch is serving as an interim principal of Richneck. She said that timeline boils down to when the teachers are ready.

“We’re checking with HR to make sure we have a staff that’s ready to come back,” she said. “And if not, we have people in place that are qualified to take over those classrooms.”

Officials said three families have already reached out to the school district to find their Richneck students another place to go to school.
