The acclaimed writer Blake Bailey had just released his latest work, a biography of Philip Roth, this April when several women came forward to accuse him of sexual misconduct and rape.

He is accused of assaulting a publishing executive in 2015 and of grooming eight grade students when he was a teacher in New Orleans. One of the students says he raped her years later.

Now the Virginian-Pilot has documented allegations that Bailey sexually harassed and abused four women while he taught at Old Dominion University between 2010 and 2016.

WHRV’s Hannah Schuster spoke with Gary Harki, an investigative reporter with the Pilot, who documented the allegations against Bailey at ODU.

A lawyer for Bailey did not respond to a request for comment from WHRV. A spokesperson for Old Dominion pointed WHRV to other statements it has released over the past few days.
