Last year the Defense Department released a survey showing an increasing number of military spouses are happy with their financial situation, and a majority are happy with their marriages.

At the same time, the number of these people who want their spouses to stay in the military has dropped over the last several years -- from 68% in 2012 to 59% in 2019.

Life in a military family is complicated, and it poses challenges civilians don't face.

According to the National Conference Of State Legislatures, military spouses make 26% less than their civilian counterparts. They also had a 22% unemployment rate -- before COVID-19 -- and they change homes every two to three years.
