A little rain and wind did not keep families away from the annual Virginia Children's Festival last weekend. After being canceled due to weather last year, the festival returned to the Norfolk downtown waterfront, and WHRO Public Media staff enjoyed seeing hundreds of parents and children at their tent.

This exciting family festival is filled with more than 100 fun, creative and interactive activities that include storytelling, hands-on workshops, educational displays, cultural experiences, arts and crafts, military demonstrations, costumed characters and more.

At the WHRO booth, visitors enjoyed playing games to win prizes, exploring WHRO’s great kids' programming and services, choosing an age-appropriate book, exploring apps and virtual reality games, voting for their favorite PBS TV show, and meeting Super Why.

Attendees also heard two stories from Ms. Martha Reads on the big stage and enjoyed a performance of GreenBeats Live.
