For over 90 years students have been competing in the Scripps National Spelling Bee with more than 10 million students competing nationally this year. This year marks the twelfth year WHRO has partnered with The Virginian-Pilot to hold the Virginian-Pilot Spelling Bee at our studio. The spelling bee was broadcast live on Saturday, February 16, as more than 60 of the area’s finest middle school spellers competed for this year’s title.
