From the CEO - September 2022

You can hear Lost in the Shuffle on WHRV on Fridays at 10 p.m. or on Saturdays at 4 p.m. on WFOS. As he does every week, Jeff was playing songs from years gone by that most of us have not heard for decades. I'm always amazed how so many of these songs have somehow stuck in the recesses of my brain. I find it interesting to see how listening to one of those forgotten songs brings back memories of times and events that I may not have thought about for many years. That's the same experience that many of you may have when you tune in to the newest addition to our family of radio stations.

As you know, WHRO Public Media took over the operations of WFOS 88.7 FM last year. Since then, Time Machine Radio Network has been popular with listeners. As your "ticket to the past," the Time Machine Radio Network plays music that everyone will enjoy from Big Band, Rock, Blues and Soul to the hits of the '60s, '70s and '80s. You can learn more about the staff working behind the scenes to bring you all this great music right here. If you haven't checked it out yet, tune in over the air, on your smart speaker, or at whro.org/timemachine

Also, mark your calendars for a special celebration. On October 15 we will be having a launch party for Time Machine Radio at Smartmouth Brewing Company hosted by Paul Shugrue and Jerry Carter where we will unveil an exclusive Time Machine gose beer. It's going to be a fun event!

If you enjoy playing excellent music in addition to just listening to it, you'll want to sign up for the return of our Classical Open Mic events. The first one of the fall season is happening on September 24 at the Chrysler Museum of Art. We have several other exciting events coming up this fall, so be sure to check our events page at whro.org/events to see the details and add them to your calendar!

Lastly, we will hold our fall membership drive later this month. This is always an exciting time for us as we get to hear from listeners who generously support public radio in our community. If you enjoy the news, music and classical arts performances that you hear on our stations, I hope you will make a contribution to support all of the ongoing work we are doing. Without you, none of it would be possible!
