Have you ever had a question that you were too uncomfortable to ask? Have you found yourself in a socially awkward situation and you were not sure what to do next? We’ve got a tool that’s sure to help! It’s a new podcast called Mind Over Manners, and it endeavors to answer the questions we’re sometimes too afraid to ask.

For example:

  • What’s the right move when the new guy at the office asks you out?
  • Should you both set up a meeting with HR or come up with your own plan to keep it a secret?
  • What’s the best way to respond when your friend “comes out”?
  • Have you ever wondered if it’s better to refer to someone of color as “Black” or “African American”?
  • What’s the best way to use Facebook or Snapchat?
  • Is it better to break up with someone in a public place?
  • Should you take gifts to the wedding or to the reception?
  • If you’re pulled over by a police officer, what things can you do to ensure a positive interaction?
  • What is the most appropriate thing to say to a bereaved friend at a funeral?
  • Is it okay to talk politics at the holiday table?

This podcast will address those questions and similar circumstances that can leave us in an etiquette quandary.

Mind Over Manners is hosted by Another View producer Lisa Godley and Morning Edition’s Sondra Woodward. Every week, they’ll query an expert who can help guide you through, or altogether avoid, awkward situations. Give Sondra and Lisa a few minutes and they’ll tackle the tough questions for you! The goal? To improve everyone’s social IQ.

But we want you to be a part of the conversation too! What curious situations have you found yourself navigating? How can Mind Over Manners help?
