Exciting news for British dramedy fans—Doc Martin returns to WHRO TV and WHRO Passport in July!

Beginning July 1, seasons 8 and 9 will be available to WHRO members on WHRO Passport. If you still need to become a member, season 8 will broadcast on WHRO TV 15 in August, followed by season 9, which will air in November.

Martin Clunes (Manhunt, Men Behaving Badly) is back as the titular Doc Martin, a.k.a. Dr. Martin Ellingham. Martin’s medical career hangs in the balance as the General Medical Council (GMC) assesses his ability and determines whether he is fit to continue practicing medicine. Season guest stars include Danny Huston (Succession) and James Lance (Ted Lasso).

In Season 9, all regular members of the cast will be reprising their roles. Caroline Catz (DCI Banks) plays Doc Martin’s wife, Louisa Ellingham, who has resigned from her job as headmistress at the local school to pursue a new career in child counseling. Dame Eileen Atkins (Cranford) once more plays Doc Martin’s formidable Aunt Ruth. Ian McNeice (Doctor Who) is back to play Bert Large, with Joe Absolom (A Confession) as his son Al. John Marquez (Rumpelstilzchen) is PC Joe Penhale, Jessica Ransom is the doctor’s receptionist Morwenna Newcross and Selina Cadell (The Lady Vanishes) is pharmacist Mrs Tishell.
