WHRO Public Media has been named once again as a Top Workplace in Hampton Roads by Inside Business. Results are based on a survey of employees who rate their workplace culture, and this is the fourth consecutive year that WHRO has received the designation.

“We are so fortunate to have the region’s best professionals working here at WHRO,” said CEO and President Bert Schmidt. “Our employees are what makes WHRO a great workplace.”

A group of WHRO employees attended the awards celebration where the organization was honored as a Top Workplace by Inside Business.

"WHRO is a family-first caring environment," said Heather Mazzoni, chief content officer and 24-year employee. "It starts at the top and includes all employees."

The recognition article in Inside Business highlighted the WHRO Education team continuing to provide resources for teachers and parents through eMediaVA, and the addition of Time Machine Radio Network to the organization’s lineup of radio stations, the expansion of the WHRO newsroom to extend local news reporting, the generosity of members and the unique combination of on-site, hybrid and remote employees implemented following the pandemic.

"We're trying to be flexible enough to allow everyone to be highly productive and allow people to have a personal life along with their careers," Schmidt said.

Congrats to WHRO’s staff and members! We look forward to many more years of bringing the community the highest quality of news, information, entertainment and education.
