At WHRO, Sri assists her boss, Belinda Elliott, in writing, publishing, and updating online content. Hoping to pursue a career in the TV and film industry, Sri applied to WHRO to gain practical experience in the field of public media. One of her favorite things about WHRO is how trusting the staff is of the interns. Overall, Sri believes WHRO has given her the opportunity to prove her abilities and follow her interests.

“If you have any interest in public media, WHRO is not only a great station, but it is an environment that is so conducive to learning and growing.”

Meet Patrice Glover, WHRO’s President and CEO summer intern. Patrice is a rising senior at Virginia Wesleyan University from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Majoring in music, she plans to pursue a career in arts management. She believes interning at WHRO has taught her the value of patience and networking, which she hopes will prepare her for a career in arts management. Overall, Patrice’s favorite part about interning at WHRO is the “family-oriented” atmosphere. “In every single department at WHRO, ‘we’ is more important than ‘me.’ You have to have a team behind you in order to keep this machine going.”

Meet Trey Watson, production intern for Another View Radio. Trey is a rising junior at Old Dominion University, where he studies communication with a focus in TV production and cinema. With career interests in production, screenwriting, and acting, Trey applied for an internship at WHRO to gain experience and learn more about the field of public media. As an intern at WHRO, Trey believes he has learned the in’s and out’s of production and taken a glimpse at a career in the field. His favorite part about interning for Another View Radio is going live every Friday. “I’ve learned to take constructive criticism, become a fast learner, and be open-minded.”
