In this intimate performance, filmed at Hahn Hall at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Lucia Micarelli showcases her artistic capacity to evoke the hearts of her listeners. Globally recognized for her collaborative efforts with the likes of Josh Groban, Chris Botti, Jethro Tull and for her starring role on the critically acclaimed HBO series Treme, Micarelli allows for these diverse influences to converge in An Evening With Lucia Micarelli, which will premiere on Friday, March 16 at 8 p.m. on WHRO-TV.

Micarelli is known for her trademark emotional vulnerability and technical wizardry, and these qualities certainly shine in this performance. Each performed piece emerges out of the sincerity of her heart, and she closes the gap between the performer and the viewer even further by sharing stories and insight in between songs. Selections include the traditional fiddle tune "Ladies Fancy," the Steve Earle penned "This City" and the jazz classic "Will O' the Wisp," made famous by Miles Davis. Micarelli also covers material from the Great American Songbook, including "Someone To Watch Over Me" and "Nature Boy," and performs classical compositions from Maurice Ravel, John Corigliano and Jean Sibelius.

The program is introduced by Michael Keaton and includes a special feature giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at Micarelli's 2009 near-career-ending accident and subsequent recovery. Her injury was initially only thought to be a severed nerve but actually involved surgery that posed a risk to her ability to perform music.

Micarelli has been praised by The Wall Street Journal for her "heart-melting talent," and viewers will have the opportunity to experience this awe-inspiring phenomenon for themselves, along with an intimate account of a life-changing event for Micarelli, in An Evening with Lucia Micarelli.
