The Royal Wedding is almost here! Starting Monday, May 14 until Friday, May 18, PBS will air a five-part series featuring experts and commentators from around the world to give viewers a better insight of what a royal wedding entails. The series will air the week prior to the royal wedding.

American actress Meghan Markle known for the hit TV show, Suits, will wed Harry, Prince of Harry of Wales, on Saturday, May 19 at St. George's Chapel at Windsor. This marriage marks a transition of traditional ideals and a royal's expectations since Markle is both biracial and divorced. In 1936, Queen Elizabeth II's uncle, Edward VII, abdicated the throne in order to marry an American divorcee. He chose love over being a royal. A few years later, Queen Elizabeth II's sister wanted to marry a divorced man, however the Queen could not give her blessing and her sister chose monarchy over love. During that time period, it was seen as scandalous to marry someone who was divorced and a commoner. However, times have changed. So Queen Elizabeth giving her blessing to her grandson and his bride-to-be is something of historical significance.

The Royal Wedding Watch series will focus on everything from royal duties and etiquette, to the wedding dress and decorations. Host and BBC presenter Anita Rani will report live from Windsor during the series. Historians will also provide information about past royal weddings and other information.
