Figaro takes the stage on WHRO-FM

Tune in to WHRO-FM this Saturday at 1 p.m. for a live broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera: Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro – The Marriage of Figaro.” This sparkling comic masterpiece brings wit, heart, and humanity to the stage in one of opera’s most beloved scores.

This Saturday matinee broadcast stars Michael Sumuel in the title role of the clever and quick-witted Figaro and Olga Kulchynska as Susana, his resourceful fiancée. Soprano Federica Lombardi is the elegant and long-suffering Countess Almaviva, with baritone Joshua Hopkins as the womanizing Count. Mezzo-soprano Sun-Ly Pierces takes the role of the adolescent pageboy Cherubino.

Joana Mallwitz conducts the Met Orchestra and Chorus in this joyous yet profound score, based on Beaumarchais’s revolutionary play.

Don’t miss this enchanting afternoon of music and mischief – live from the Met, this Saturday at 1 p.m. on WHRO-FM 90.3 and also online.
