In May 1963, at the height of what many called the "Great Folk Scare" Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs were at the peak of their popularity. Having left their mentor and the father of Bluegrass Music, Bill Monroe's Band, they had quickly established themselves as the premier ambassadors of Bluegrass Music. Their legendary concert at Vanderbilt came as the folk genre was dominating radio playlists. In fact, the concert emcee introduced Flatt and Scruggs that evening saying," We are in for a great night of folk music.." (not Bluegrass). Tune in for a set from the concert, along with other great folk... Bluegrass acts on Pickin. Sunday night at 7 on WHRV.
