Feast on WHRV This Thanksgiving

Busy making those Jello molds and special stuffing?   Frantically trying to master Aunt Margie’s famed 3 bean casserole?   Fret not as WHRV has you covered on the busiest cooking day of the year. Tune in Thursday to 89.5 for a wonderful backdrop as you frantically finish that Thanksgiving meal. At 11, the staff of WHRO Public Media offer you their Thanksgiving memories and thoughts combined with musical anthems that they are grateful for.  And, at 12 noon, it’s cooking triage when A Splendid Table’s Francis Land hosts Turkey Confidential with last minute tips and directions to help you get that dinner ready!  And at 3 enjoy Paul Winter’s Horn of Plenty, with songs of appreciation for the land, sea, and air.  We’re celebrating all things Thanksgiving and hoping you’re enjoying the special day with family and friends.

Barry Graham used to arrive at WHRO with a briefcase full of papers and lesson plans. For 32 years he taught US and Virginia Government in the Virginia Beach Public Schools. While teaching was always his first love, radio was a close second. While attending Old Dominion, Barry was program director at WODU, the college radio station. After graduating, he came to WHRO as an overnight announcer. Originally intending to stay on only while completing graduate school, he was soon hooked on Public Radio and today is the senior announcer on WHRV. In 2001, Barry earned his Ph.D in Urban Studies by writing a history of WHRO and analyzing its impact upon local education, policy and cultural arts organizations.
