The Best of Pickin brings you new music from Daryl Mosley

Friday Night’s Best of Pickin has a healthy dose of new music this week with tracks from Daryl Mosley and his new album Long Days and Short Stories. Mosley is a former member of New Tradition before working with the legendary Osborne Brothers and then forming the band Farm Hands. The Tennessee native has been called “The Songwriter’s Songwriter” for his ability to paint mental pictures through his music. We’ll also hear a new release from the Route 3 Band. The Missouri based group has a new release on the Pinecastle Label entitled Just Believe. Also, new music from Chatham County Line, Andy Baker, Troy Engle, and the all-female band Sister Sadie. Tune in for a two hour walk through both progressive and traditional bluegrass and alt country on The Best of Pickin. Friday night at 11 on WHRV.

Barry Graham used to arrive at WHRO with a briefcase full of papers and lesson plans. For 32 years he taught US and Virginia Government in the Virginia Beach Public Schools. While teaching was always his first love, radio was a close second. While attending Old Dominion, Barry was program director at WODU, the college radio station. After graduating, he came to WHRO as an overnight announcer. Originally intending to stay on only while completing graduate school, he was soon hooked on Public Radio and today is the senior announcer on WHRV. In 2001, Barry earned his Ph.D in Urban Studies by writing a history of WHRO and analyzing its impact upon local education, policy and cultural arts organizations.
