Uprooted, a documentary from the Virginia Center for Investigative Journalism (VCIJ) at WHRO, will be included in the 37th Annual Virginia Film Festival. The film tells the nearly forgotten story of a college expansion like the ones that broke up Black communities across Virginia and the country.
Uprooted will air as a part of the "Our Wealth in Common" short film series. This series highlights the diversity of storytelling and filmmaking talent, including works by Virginia-based creators and those with significant ties to the region.
The festival runs from Oct. 30 through Nov. 3 and features more than 100 films.
Uprooted airs at the festival on November 3, at 8:20 p.m. in the Violet Crown 5 room.
