Leon Bridges takes us on a tour of his past and present with his fourth album “Leon.” The Texas born artist centers most of the stories around his upbringing in Forth Worth with images of bodies of water, crossroads, past loves, and hanging at the corner store.
Bridges says, “I’m excited to share these stories about my home, about nostalgia, about my upbringing, about where I’m from, with all of you.” The album is an invitation to travel alongside him.
With his rootsy soulfulness framing his memories it’s a glimpse into his life with Bridges acting as a tour guide. The production, filled with lush instrumentation and hushed piano work, is polished yet leaves room for Bridges’ emotive voice to shine through.
"Leon" is staggering in its honesty and its approach to such personal topics. The expansive sound allows the portraits of himself to come to life and shows a side to an artist we rarely see.
