Mark Rogers is a Williamsburg based singer songwriter who has just released his third album “30 Minutes From Water Street. He has a unique way of writing melodies that draw the listener in and lyrics that keep them enthralled with the stories he tells.
Rogers is pursuing a passion that has been with him for a long time and the first song on the album tells the story of how, early in his life, he went out to California to make music. It didn’t happen for him back then but the song tells of how he has regained his musical compass.
All the songs, with one exception, are about the people and moments he’s known throughout his life. In one song he captures the full life cycle of a relationship and the startling realizations that come with each step.
Rogers says that the album may seem to some like an aimless pursuit. As he says “there certainly doesn’t seem to be much money in it” but sometimes songs that come from a no pressure situation like that are the ones that hit home the most. On “30 Minutes From Water Street” his music is relatable simply for the joy he takes in making it.
