Earl Taylor, who fronted the first Bluegrass band to play at Carnegie Hall in 1959 can be heard on this week's Pickin. Taylor helped fuel a thriving Bluegrass scene in Baltimore/Washington DC, where many people had settled looking for work during the 40s and 50s. They brought with them a love of the music from the rural regions and bands like the Stoney Mountain Boys and Del McCourt found an appreciative audience. Taylor also worked with Jimmy Martin, The Stanley Brothers, and Flatt and Scruggs. Over the past years, there has been a movement to get Taylor inducted into the International Bluegrass Hall of Honor. We'll hear his brand of Bluegrass on this week's Pickin. Sunday night at 7 on WHRV.
