Reviving Tradition and Redefining Classics, this Saturday on ‘This Just In’

Classical music enthusiasts, mark your calendars for another evening of the latest and greatest in new releases, presented by Raymond Jones. This Saturday at 8:00 p.m., WHRO-FM brings you three hours of exceptional performances and recently released recordings that will keep you up to date with the best in the classical world.

The program begins with a masterful performance of Bach’s “Overture in the French Style” by pianist Rochelle Sennet, included in her album “Bach to Black”, followed by the captivating Violin Concerto by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, performed by the talented Elena Urioste and the Chineke! Orchestra. Then, experience the collaboration of three star soloists—Nicola Benedetti, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, and Benjamin Grosvenor—in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, showcasing both virtuosity and ensemble artistry.

The evening continues with Sibelius’s evocative String Quartet in d minor “Intimate Voices,” a piece full of Nordic melancholy and emotional depth. You’ll also hear Alfred Bruneau’s enchanting “Sleeping Beauty in the Woods,” followed by the dramatic and rarely performed “The Death of Dussek” by Philip Anthony Corri.

Whether you’re a seasoned classical connoisseur or simply love discovering new music, you won’t want to miss this showcase of fresh classical releases. Tune in Saturday at 8:00 p.m. on WHRO 90.3, or stream online, for an evening filled with captivating performances and exciting new additions to the classical repertoire.
