Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra

This Saturday, July 27, join Raymond Jones for This Just In, where our knowledgeable host will showcase his curated selection of the latest releases in the world of classical music.

The program will kick off with Danny Elfman’s evocative piece “Are You Lost,” performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic under the baton of the esteemed JoAnn Falletta. Next, we will delve into the impressionistic world of Debussy with his “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun,” conducted by the dynamic Klaus Makela. Following this, Paavo Jarvi will lead us through the depths of Schoenberg’s symphonic poem “Pelleas und Melisande.”

The Emerson Quartet then takes the stage with a stunning rendition of Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 13 in Bb. Their performance of this intricate and profound work showcases the quartet’s technical brilliance and deep musicality.

Next, Havergal Brian’s Symphony No. 8 will offer a rare and compelling addition to the evening’s lineup, and renowned pianist Helene Grimaud will bring her interpretive genius to Schumann’s “Kreisleriana.” The evening will conclude with Ernest Guiraud’s Overture “d’Arteveld.”
