Joyful rebellion is how Lake Street Dive describes their musical mission. Their eighth album “Good Together” brings the good times with a set of unapologetically soul pop songs designed to share their energetic spirit.
They have a new guitarist since their last album but the core group remains with lead singer Rachael Price showing off her powerful voice and Bridget Kearney laying down a groove like no one else can on bass.
Their influences draw on 80’s new wave, bubble gum indie-pop and jazzy horn driven funk. Each member of the band, for the first time, contributed to the songwriting leading to a set of fun, catchy, ear worms.
Even when dealing with complexities of relationships, Lake Street Dive finds the soulful common denominator that can bring everyone together. They’ve been around for almost 20 years and “Good Together” is the perfect description of the band’s dynamic.
