Pickin on WHRV has a solid two hours of traditional bluegrass with music from The Stanley Brothers, The Warrior River Boys, the great Larry Sparks, and The Louvin Brothers. Also, music from the Lonesome Pine Fiddlers and their classic 1954 release Windy Mountain. The band spawned the careers of several notable figures in the genre, including Bobby Osborne, Curly Ray Cline, and Paul Williams. The band would release four albums on the Starday Label and would be inducted into the IBMA Hall of fame in 2009. And, with the summer Solstice having just passed, we’ll have a set of artists celebrating the arrival of the summer season. Tune in for Pickin. Sunday night at 7 on 89.5.
