Explore Virginia’s musical scene with ‘A Local Touch’

Tune in this Wednesday, May 22nd, at 9:00 PM for 'A Local Touch – Music with A Virginia Connection,' hosted by Raymond Jones.

We kick off our musical soiree from the Heifetz Institute of Music in Staunton, featuring its special program entitled 'Sounds of the Celebrities' where the renowned faculty will dazzle in solo and chamber settings with great colleagues, featuring, amongst others, Schubert, Shostakovich, and Brahms’ string quartets.

BHM local touch

We will also bring you a diverse lineup that celebrates Virginia’s musical heritage. Highlights include Robert Ian Winstin’s Cello Concerto featuring Ukrainian cellist Vera Kornilova, the Peninsula Choral Society directed by James Powers with 'Songs of Land and Sea,' and the 2011 All Virginia High School Symphonic Band performing 'Southern Harmony' by Donald Grantham. We'll also delve into Mark Camphouse’s 'Symphony from Ivy Green,' inspired by the birthplace of Helen Keller.

Don't miss out on this musical journey! Tune in to WHRO-FM this Wednesday at 9:00 PM for 'A Local Touch' and experience the magic of Virginia's musical roots.
