'Pickin' Features the High Lonesome Sound of Bluegrass

pickin 1200

On this week's  Pickin' , we feature the High Lonesome Sound of Bluegrass, These were the defining artists who helped to establish the genre. We’ll hear from Bill Monroe captured live at Bean Blossom park in a 1979 performance. Also, Flatt and Scruggs, Red Allen, Jimmy Martin, Charlie Moore, and plenty of others. We’ll also hear a rare recording from Hylo Brown. He recorded on Starday records in the early 1960s. During that time, the label was locked into the folk boom that was occurring and they were recording many Americana artists. Tune in for the High Lonesome sound on Pickin.

Pickin' on WHRV, solid bluegrass for your Sunday evenings, each week at 7:00 p.m. on 89.5 FM.

You can also listen live online.
