'Ms. Martha Reads' Celebrates Lifelong Learning Week

Ms Martha episode

The City of Norfolk hosted its inaugural Lifelong Learning Week, May 7 – 14, 2022. Norfolk residents enjoyed a full week of free in-person, online and hybrid programming for all ages.

Lifelong Learning Week is a Believe in Learning (BIL) citywide initiative. Lifelong Learning Week kicked off at the Jordan-Newby Anchor Branch Library on May 7, and WHRO Public Media's Martha Razor, host of Ms. Martha Reads, helped kick off the festivities. Attendees enjoyed a story from Ms. Martha and met members of the WHRO Early Childhood Services team who had the WHRO Literacy Van with them. Other kickoff activities includied remarks from city leadership, storytelling, wreath making, and more.

Throughout the week, attendees enjoyed a youth open mic night, container gardening, workforce development, musicals, community panel discussions, drawing, African storytelling, fitness, painting and more. Believe in Learning offers year-round programming from more than 100 partners.

Watch Ms. Martha Reads on Fridays at 10 a.m. on Facebook, or take her stories with you wherever you go with the Ms. Martha Reads podcast.
