Larry Sparks

This Sunday, Harold Smith and Pickin on WHRV features the music of the legendary Larry Sparks. After 50 years in Bluegrass Music, Sparks is considered one of the last of the original stars who helped to define the genre. He collaborated with the legendary Stanley Brothers and later was a founder of the Lonesome Ramblers. In 1980, he catapulted to cross over stardom with the John Deere Tractor release which today is considered as one of the greatest Bluegrass albums ever. In 2002, John Deere Tractor was remastered and reissued by Rebel Records. Still touring and recording, Larry Sparks is a national treasure who keeps alive the finest traditional sound of Bluegrass Music. Tune in Sunday at 7:00 on 89.5 FM.
