On this week’s Pickin' on WHRV, host Harold Smith features music from the Father of Bluegrass Music, Bill Monroe, including several tunes with twin and triple fiddles. Also, a set from Peter Rowan who got his start as a Bluegrass Boy with Bill Monroe in 1963. We’ll also hear several selections from David Parmley’s solo release Southern Heritage which came out in 1993. During his 15 years as a founding member of the legendary band The Bluegrass Cardinals, Parmley established himself as one of the finest singers of the genre. Harold also gives us several tracks from East Virginia’s 2000 Major Records release Steel Rails and Sad Tales. East Virginia is the band that Harold performed with for several years and was a regional favorite. Hear for yourself. It’s classic Bluegrass on Pickin' on WHRV, Sunday night at 7:00 on 89.5 FM.
