On this week’s Acoustic Highway, storytelling blues musician Doug Macleod is featured. Locals might remember him from the 1960s when he was in the Navy and stationed in Norfolk. He emerged as a part of the thriving folk music scene that included Emmy Lou Harris, Bob Zentz, Juice Newton and James Lee Stanley. During his last visit here, people drove from all over the region to see him perform. Now based out of Memphis, he has won six Blues Music Awards and has had his compositions recorded by countless artists including Albert Collins, Eva Cassidy, and Son Seals. Doug Macleod is a masterful presence on the stage and in the studio. Hear for yourself, Sunday night at 9:00 on WHRV.
