Lucky residents who were able to get tickets to the Antiques Roadshow taping held September 28 in Colonial Williamsburg had a beautiful day to show off their treasures. After having to cancel the initial event planned for 2020 due to the pandemic, producers were excited to offer a modified version last month.
At the appraisal event, guests received free verbal evaluations of their antiques and collectibles from experts from the country’s leading auction houses and independent dealers.
The Williamsburg visit was part of the show's 2021 production tour. The crew is making stops exclusively at distinctive, historic locations across the country.
“Holding events at these locations allows our cameras to film appraisals in and around places that are treasures in their own right, adding an exciting depth to our show,” said Roadshow executive producer Marsha Bemko prior to the event. “I can’t wait to see what treasures we uncover in Williamsburg."
They did find some magnificient treasures—but viewers will have to wait until next year to see what they are.
Producers plan to create three episodes from their stop in Williamsburg, and the shows will air sometime in 2022 on PBS.
