A Norfolk icon has passed away.  Albert Doumar, nephew of Abe Doumar, the man credited with inventing the ice cream cone, died today at age 92 after a battle with cancer.  Despite the health, Mr. Doumar continued working at the place he owned and operated, Doumar's Cones & Barbecue in Norfolk.  He made the famous waffle cones nearly every day on the same machine that produced the first ones back in 1904.  In 2009, WHRO's Cathy Lewis and producer Danny Epperson interviewed Mr. Doumar at his Hampton Roads landmark, Doumar's, a place where generations have gathered for many reasons and one of them is to enjoy a piece of history.
