WHRO Public Media is excited to announce that  our station has won a Regional Murrow Award for reporting by Morning Edition Host Gina Gambony and Megan Pauly, of Virginia Public Media. The station won in the category of "best news series" for the series Seclusion & Restraint: Behind The Numbers, reporting on seclusion and restraint in private schools that serve students with disabilities. The station won in Region 12, which includes both Baltimore and the Washington, D.C. region, in the large market category.

The Radio Television Digital News Association's (RTDNA) Edward R. Murrow Awards are among the most prestigious in broadcast and digital news. The Murrow Awards recognize local and national news stories that uphold the RTDNA Code of Ethics, demonstrate technical expertise and exemplify the importance and impact of journalism as a service to the community.

"It seems so long ago now, but more than six months of reporting, FOIAs, countless stacks of data and at least a few hours of phone calls with lawyers went into this," said Rebecca Feldhaus Adams, WHRO news director. "It's such a wonderful piece of news to share. Congrats to Gina, Megan, Catherine and the broader team who all supported this work!"
