Congratulations to WHRO Community Engagement Officer Nancy Rogan! She has been recognized by Inside Business as one of the Women in Business honorees.

Nancy is a Norfolk native and began her career in Norfolk as a special education teacher for Norfolk Public Schools. She more than 25 years professional experience in nonprofits, notably in arts, education, and charitable organizations. In her role at WHRO Public Media, her work focuses on veterans, education and community programs.

“My primary role is working to engage the community around the great educational and entertaining content WHRO offers,” Nancy explained in her profile for Inside Business. “The cool part is I get to meet so many people, connect with many of the amazing organizations that impact our region, and be involved in some incredible projects.”

One popular initiative she spearheads for WHRO is our American Graduate initiative. Made possible by a grant from The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, American Graduate is a collaboration between WHRO and area businesses, educational institutions, and community service organizations to help young people, adults and veterans re-entering the workforce to find pathways to career success in high-demand jobs that do not require four-year degrees.
