Knowledge is the best medicine. Our advice on House Calls is based on short conversation and no physical examination-not the way medicine should be practiced. We encourage you to read more about our topics by going to the library or on the Internet, then make an appointment and really talk with your doctor.

BLOOD, SWEAT, & TEARS
Today on House Calls, we talk about your bodily fluids – blood, sweat, and tears. January is National Blood Donor Month and typically sees the lowest levels of blood supplies. We talk with Amy Eaton from the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Red Cross about how you can contribute your pint. We’ll also learn about a debilitating condition known as hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, from Dr. David Pariser, dermatologist and President of the International Hyperhidrosis Society. And finally, did you know tears do a lot more than signal emotion? Ophthalmologist Dr. Stephanie Marineaux joins us to talk about the amazing function of tears.
