A Day for Dads
Father’s Day was first celebrated in the in the United States 100 years ago and across the country families will be celebrating their fathers and father-figures this Sunday. Research shows that the presence of a father or father figure in the home can have a positive impact on children’s test scores, obesity rates, teen pregnancy rates and more. We’ll speak with people who are working to shine the light on the importance of fathers in society. Our guests include Trey Ellis author of Bedtime Stories: Adventures in the Land of Single-Fatherhood; Dr. Neil Bernstein, author of There When He Needs You: How to Be an Available, Involved and Emotionally Connected Father to Your Son; and Eleanor Earl and Odetta Wright the co-producers of ‘Father Figure: A Documentary Film’ exploring the ways in which women’s lives are affected by present and absent fathers.
