Immigration in Virginia

Segment A: I Got it on eBay…
eBay, the internet auction site and cultural phenomenon, has been at the center of several recent lawsuits brought by luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co., claiming that the online auction site doesn’t do enough to authenticate the goods sold through its website. Whether you care if that bag you are bidding on is real or not there are lots of odd items available through eBay. Among those that originated in Hampton Roads are a cornflake shaped like Illinois, with a winning bid of $1,350.00 and a spot as a bridesmaid in a Virginia Beach woman’s wedding. We’ll talk about the cultural phenomenon that is eBay today on HearSay.
Segment B: Insight in Odd Places
We’ll talk with Thomas Cathcart and Daniel Klein about their bestselling book, ‘Plato And Platypus Walk Into a Bar…Understanding Philosophy Through Jokes’ recently out in paperback. The two are dedicated to helping readers better understand heady topics like existentialism and metaphysics through comic yarns. We’ll also bring you a conversation with author Cathy Alter, whose new book ‘Up For Renewal’ follows her for a year after she makes the decision to improve her life by following advice set out in women’s magazines.
