GA Headlines; Senator Sarbanes
We'll have all the latest news from the General Assembly and take your questions and comments.  Join Cathy and her guest Daily Press reporter Kimball Payne.  We'll  also talk with retired Maryland Senator Paul Sarbanes, one of the co-sponsors of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act which is described as the most sweeping corporate reform legislation since the 1930s.  Senator Sarbanes is being honored with the first Economic Impact award by the Economics Club of Hampton Roads for his contributions to economic and financial policy.

China Today

The world's most populous nation has a booming economy, is a leader in technology and military strength, and will host the 2008 Olympics.  Virginia Congressman Randy Forbes, co-founder of the Congressional China Caucus, has focused the last two years on getting his colleagues and the Bush administration more interested in and better educated about China.  We'll discuss the rise of the superpower and its significance for Americans today on HearSay.

We’ll talk to new mom Vicki Glembocki about her memoir 'The Second Nine Months'. And visit with Jennifer Griffin who realized after having her first child that she couldn't recall the words to the nursery rhymes she remembered from her youth. She compiled her search for the lyrics and tunes to these traditional tales in a volume titled 'Humpty Who?: A Crash Course in Nursery Rhymes for Clueless Moms and Dads'.
 
Segment B: The Literacy Gap
In America and abroad young males are falling behind in reading and writing proficiency at alarming rates. As they get older their enrollment in higher education is dwindling. We'll talk about this achievement gap and speak with author Jon Scieszka, Gurian Institute Executive Director Kathy Stevens and others who are taking steps to reverse this downward trend.
