LIVING CULTURE: TREATMENT OF DETAINEES
Concern and criticism over the treatment of detainees in Guantánamo Bay, Iraq and Afghanistan led to a US ban on torture, but the debate continues over whether alleged
"enemy combatants" are entitled to the usual rights of prisoners of war set out in the Geneva Conventions. Its the focus of an upcoming panel discussion by Old Dominion University's Institute for Ethics and Public Affairs, “Fighting the Global War on Terror: Ethical and Legal Issues in the Treatment of Detainees.” On today's HearSay, Cathy is joined by panelists William Howard Taft, former chief legal advisor to the US Department of State, Kristine Huskey, International Litigation attorney and Tom Robotham, editor of Portfolio Weekly.
