Linda Dyer
Linda is a Norfolk native who was transplanted to Virginia Beach in the 80’s. A brief stint as an announcer in high school through a Junior Achievement program sponsored by WNOR instilled a love of broadcasting that has remained strong throughout her life.
She attended the Paul Hennings School of Broadcasting and stayed busy doing voice overs and television commercials for more than 20 years. She’s also had an active career as a runway and print model.
A violist and violinist, she performs with the Virginia Beach Symphony and maintains a private teaching studio. One of her greatest joys is that both of her daughters play violin. Daughter Ashley is a performance major at East Carolina School of Music and younger daughter Lizzie juggles violin with acting at Kellam High School.
In her spare time, Linda loves to find homes and plan activities for foreign exchange students during each school year. She’s active with the Governor’s School for the Arts Foundation board, the Feldman Chamber Music Society board, and the Virginia Beach Symphony Orchestra board.
A WHRO volunteer for more than 15 years, Linda is delighted to bring her love of public broadcasting full circle as Weekend Announcer on 90.3 FM and Community Outreach Coordinator. She can be contacted at linda.dyer@whro.org
