WHRO TV AND FM TO AIR LOCAL CONCERT LIVE FROM REGENT THEATRE
Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Chorus to Perform
Works by Bernstein, Copland, Barber and Locklair
NORFOLK: WHRO has announced that on May 16th, beginning at 8:00pm, it will once again broadcast a Virginia Symphony Orchestra performance live from the theatre in the Communications and Performing Arts Center at Regent University. The concert will be aired on WHRO TV15, WHRO 15.1HD and on WHRO 90.3FM.
JoAnn Falletta will conduct the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and the Virginia Symphony Chorus, Robert Shoup Chorusmaster.
The program will feature Maurice Ravel’s “Mother Goose” ballet, Brahms’ variations on a Theme by Haydn” and the majestic Requiem by Gabriel Fauré.
WHRO 90.3FM’s Dwight Davis will reprise his role as TV and radio host of the concert. He will be joined by Devorah Nelson of Regent University.
With support from grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Virginia Arts Commission, the television broadcast is being offered to public television stations all across the Commonwealth. This is WHRO’s fifth collaboration with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and the Regent University Theatre. In May 2004, the public broadcaster aired Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah oratorio, followed in March 2005 by Haydn’s The Creation, in January 2006 by Mozart’s Requiem, and in March 2007 by Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms.”
